Dummy Gelunde World Championships

THIRD ANNUAL DUMMY GELUNDE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD AT VAIL SNOW DAZE 2008

* Registration Now Open to the Public and Limited to 25 Total Entries
* First Place Team Will Be Awarded $5,000

VAIL, Colo.—November 7, 2008—In its third year, the Dummy Gelunde World Championships will return to the Vail Snow Daze weeklong festival on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 3-5 p.m. Registration opened to the public November 1 and is limited to a field of 25 teams.

Dummy Gelunde is a sport of sorts, where teams of one to three people construct snow-riding dummies attached to a pair of skis or a snowboard and launch the handmade contraptions over a giant on-snow jump. Dummies are then judged on distance, air, creativity, takeoff, landing and crowd response.

“The Dummy Gelunde World Championships is hands-down the wackiest, most outrageous event in the Snow Daze schedule,” said James Deighan of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the producers of the event. “I’ve seen everything from a dummy toilet to a flying stove to an Army tank compete in this event.”

This year, a grand prize of $5,000 - an increase of $3,500 from the 2007 competition - will be awarded to the first place Dummy Gelunde team. Second place will receive $1,500 and third place will receive $750, totally an overall cash purse of $7,250.

“Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to have fun building a creative snow-riding craft and launching it down Vail Mountain, but it’s also a great chance to win a huge chunk of cash,” explains Jeff Brausch of Highline Sports & Entertainment.

The Dummy Gelunde World Championships will be held at Golden Peak on Vail Mountain Saturday, December 13 from 3-5 p.m., with viewing and judging taking place from 1-3 p.m. Entry cost is only $50 per team and is limited to a field of 25 teams on a first come, first served policy. Online registration, as well as detailed event information including rules is available at www.vailsnowdaze.com.

Vail Snow Daze 2008 is brought to you by Vail Resorts, Bud Light, Jack Daniel’s, Volvo, Town of Vail, Amp Energy and SKI Magazine and is sponsored in part by Aspen Valley Harley Davidson, US Army, Smith Optics, Head Ski, Blackberry, E. & J. Gallo Winery, Vail Daily, Vail Dentistry, KVBA-TV8 and KZYR The Zephyr. To become a sponsor of the event, please email info@gohighline.com.

Media Contact: Natalie Fandrey
Highline Sports & Entertainment
970.476.6797 x108; Natalie@gohighline.com
