        <Description>&lt;h2&gt;About VFF&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img hspace="0" border="0" align="bottom" src="http://www.vailfilmfestival.org/images/content-about_vff.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;Founded by actors, filmmakers, and dedicated film enthusiasts, and in close partnership with the Town of Vail and Vail Resorts, the Vail Film Festival is a platform for independent filmmakers to screen their productions in an incredible atmosphere. The first annual Vail Film Festival, conceived and staged by the Vail Film Institute, was held in Vail, Colorado from April 1 &amp;ndash; 4, 2004. The festival drew over 5,000 attendees and was heralded as the most successful first-year event in the history of Vail by Bill Jensen, COO of Vail Resorts, Rod Slifer, Mayor of Vail, and Kaye Ferry, President of the Vail Chamber and Business Association. The 2004 festival screened over 60 films including the North American Premiere of &lt;em&gt;Before Sunset&lt;/em&gt; starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, and the festival was embraced by the many attendees who came from across the country and around the world to see a wide range of films from cutting edge filmmakers. The Vail Film Festival has grown significantly since it&amp;rsquo;s inception, with the 3rd annual Vail Film Festival receiving over 1,000 film submissions, 12,000 attendees, 250 filmmakers, and screening 75 films over four days.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Recent premieres and highlights at the Vail Film Festival include &lt;em&gt;Before Sunset&lt;/em&gt; (Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy), &lt;em&gt;My Date with Drew&lt;/em&gt; (Drew Barrymore), &lt;em&gt;Kung Fu Hustle, House of D&lt;/em&gt; (David Duchovny, Robin Williams), &lt;em&gt;The Wendell Baker Story&lt;/em&gt; (Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Eva Mendes, Will Ferrell), &lt;em&gt;The Oh in Ohio&lt;/em&gt; (Parker Posey, Paul Rudd, Danny DeVito, Mischa Barton), &lt;em&gt;American Dreamz&lt;/em&gt; (Dennis Quaid, Hugh Grant, Mandy Moore), &lt;em&gt;The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang&lt;/em&gt; (From the makers of Napoleon Dynamite), &lt;em&gt;Snowblind&lt;/em&gt; (starring Olympic athletes), and &lt;em&gt;The King&lt;/em&gt; (Gael Garcia Bernal, William Hurt).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The fifth annual Vail Film Festival will take place April 3 &amp;ndash; April 6, 2008 in scenic Vail Village, surrounded by Colorado&amp;rsquo;s majestic snow capped mountains, in the heart of America&amp;rsquo;s most famous ski resort.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The 2008 Festival program will showcase Feature Films, Shorts, Documentaries, Student Films, Action Sports Films, and an Oscar Shorts Showcase. The 2007 Gold Summit Award for Contribution to Film was awarded to Harold Ramis, acclaimed actor/writer/director.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Festival activities include film screenings, classes, panel discussions, live music, nightly galas, a filmmaker reception, first-tracks skiing, and a closing brunch. The festival also integrates the magnificent winter sports location by scheduling afternoon and evening-only programming and offering deeply discounted lift tickets to accommodate skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Vail Film Institute&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Vail Film Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering independent cinema.
