Eaglecrest DECA needs volunteers for the Vail DECA Invitational at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek on October 25, 2010. It should be an exciting time for the students and we appreciate your expertise. To review, we will have a judges’ breakfast and briefing at the hotel, in the Ouray/Dempsey room at 7:30 a.m. Immediately following this, you will be judging a “live” selling or human relations event. The students will have approximately 10 minutes to look over the event. They may take notes as they study. They will then come in to you to “role play” that event with you. You may be a customer looking to buy the product the student is selling. You may have a human relations problem, which the student needs to solve. At any rate, you and the student will interact for about 7 minutes, after which you will evaluate them on a score sheet. You may see about 10 students with the exact same role play scenario. The goal of the student is to be the highest scoring student. Students will not only receive this score, but they will have taken a marketing test the day prior. A combination of scores will result in our winners. The students have 18 different categories in which they can compete. Some are individual, some are team events.
Individual events:
Accounting, Apparel & Accessories, Automotive Services, Business Services Food Marketing, Hotel & Lodging Mgmt, Marketing Management, Quick Serve Restaurant, Restaurant & Food Service Mgmt., Retail Merchandise, Sports & Entertainment Mkt. Team (2 members) events:
Business Law and Ethics, Buying and Merchandising, Hospitality, Internet Marketing, Sports & Entertainment, Travel and Tourism
More details will be given at the breakfast. We have also included lunch, and you should be done somewhere around 12:30 or so. Dress for Monday is business attire.
