$25 Unlimited Play, $37 Including Cart Continues at the Vail Golf Club

The Vail Golf Club staff will offer one, free 10-minute lesson from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31 in conjunction with the 12th Annual Play Golf America's Professional Golf Association's (PGA) Free Lesson Month. According to Vail Golf Club Head Professional Jeanne Sutherland, the free lesson month is designed to bring new people to the sport and help existing golfers improve their game with one free, 10-minute golf lesson conducted by professionals. "This is the second time we've offered the free lesson program and it's a great opportunity for anyone, from the beginner to the scratch golfer, to learn something new," said Sutherland. "A 10-minute lesson is sufficient to learn a proper stance, grip and how to aim if you are new to the game or to ask any questions you have about your golf swing if you are an experienced player. We love it when golfers show up with questions and we can speak directly to the problems they have encountered on the golf course."

The PGA of America and Golf Digest jointly launched this successful campaign in 1998. PGA Free Lesson Month is a growth-of-the-game initiative between The PGA of America, Golf Digest, the GOLF CHANNEL, Golf For Women and Golf World. During last year's free lesson month, PGA/LPGA professionals reported 54 percent of the lessons given were to new customers, 24 percent were new to the game and 30 percent were women. From these lessons, 32 percent purchased additional instruction and 43 percent signed up for a tee time. "It's just one more tool we can use to help people get excited about playing golf," said Sutherland. "We have an amazing course and an amazing staff that are ready to help teach beginners or improve game playing for even the most seasoned players."

Additionally, Sutherland says every golfer who takes a free lesson and sends in a free lesson card will be entered to win a two-day/two-night golf getaway to the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., including hotel accommodations, round-trip economy airfare, a two-day session at The PGA Golf School and a set of custom-fit set of golf clubs.

The Vail Golf Club, which is operated by the Vail Recreation District, is nestled at the base of the Gore Mountain Range and offers golfers a unique 18-hole, par 71 experience at 8,200 feet elevation. Currently golfers can enjoy unlimited play for $25 to walk the course, or $37 including cart. The golf club also offers a full service golf shop, group and corporate outings, professional instruction, launch monitor, driving range, practice area, club storage, golf swing analysis, club rentals and demo days. The Vail Golf Club is Vail's only golf course and is open to the public.
