October 15, 2008 | | OCT. 31 IN VAIL VILLAGE AND LIONSHEAD | 16th ANNUAL "TRICK OR TREAT TROT" HALLOWEEEN FESTIVITIES SET FOR OCT. 31 IN VAIL VILLAGE AND LIONSHEAD (Vail) - Ghosts, goblins, fairies, princesses and even superheroes are just a few characters that are invited to the 16th annual Trick or Treat Trot taking place Friday, Oct. 31 in the streets of Vail Village and LionsHead. Children age infant through 10 years old and their families are invited to participate in the Halloween festivities, which will begin at 1 p.m. at the Vail Public Library featuring a Halloween Story Hour prior to the costume parade. Then from 2 to 5 p.m. children will gather and march through the streets of Vail visiting merchants that display an oversized jack-o-lantern bag at their entrance and will offer children safe treats. Over 500 children have shown off their costumes throughout shops and restaurants in Vail during past Trick or Treat Trots. Children ages two to 10 also are invited to enter the annual Trick or Treat Trot coloring contest. Children are asked to decorate the "Halloween Scarecrow" in their best design or submit their own drawing to Vail Recreation District (VRD) Youth Services office, located adjacent to Subway in the LionsHead parking structure, no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24. Prizes will be given to the top three designs in each age category. A limited number of Trick or Treat bags are available at the VRD Youth Services Department on a first-come, first-served basis. The Trick or Treat Trot is organized by VRD Youth Services and sponsored by the Vail Daily and Pazzo's.
