2007, and the state actually lost a portion of its market share but
remained king of the hill nationwide, according to a new tourism report.
The
Longwoods International “Colorado Travel Year 2007” report revealed
that significantly fewer visitors traveled from the Rust Belt last
year, and areas outside Denver followed the nationwide trend for
shorter lengths of stay.
Still, Colorado continued to be the
number-one overnight ski destination in the U.S. for 2007 despite
increasing competition from other states, according to the report
commissioned by the Denver Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau
and the Colorado Tourism Office.
Overall statewide numbers broke
records — with 28 million Americans making overnight visits to Colorado
in 2007, up from 26.9 million in 2006. Click below to read the entire article
