March 20, 2008 | | New membership program for local non-profit | Meet The Wilderness launches their new Membership Program with a Breakfast Fundraiser at Dish Restaurant in Edwards. On Tuesday, March 11, 2008 thirty-four locals including MTW staff and board members all got together to hear about the great programming being offered through Meet The Wilderness. A terrific breakfast was served by the staff at Dish Restaurant who has committed to hosting four Breakfast Fundraisers in 2008.
The goal of these breakfasts is to share the mission and vision of this 34-year old non-profit organization. Our mission is to help at-risk and underserved kids in Eagle County and nationally improve their leadership qualities, life skills, and sense of teamwork. The mantra for Meet The Wilderness is “Growth Through Adventure”. That is what Meet The Wilderness does, create opportunities for kids to grow through adventure via our programs which include, backcountry wilderness trips, rock climbing and adventure series, elementary school outdoor education, and various team courses.
The breakfast fundraiser was created for a few reasons. First, it is easier to get busy business people together for just one hour early in the morning. Second, we want to invite local business leaders to become members of Meet The Wilderness. This way, not only are they contributing to a worthy organization (tax deductible), but they also have the opportunity to participate in a number of different ways, from being active volunteers to giving financial support. Members are involved at their own level and everyone is appreciated for what they bring to the organization.
Our next Breakfast Fundraiser is scheduled for Tuesday June 10, 2008, at Dish Restaurant beginning at 8:00am. For more information about how you can get a reservation, call: 970-926-9376
